Bampton Hundred

BAMPTON HUNDRED, one of the fifteen hundreds or subdivisions of the county of Oxford, situated in the western part of the county, and bounded on the N. by the hundred of Chadlington, on the E. by the hundred of Wootton, on the S. by Berkshire, and on the W. by Gloucestershire. It comprises the following parishes:-Alvescott, Asthall, Bampton, Blackbourton, Broadwell, Broughton Poggs, Burford, Clanfield, Ducklington, Kencott, Norton Brize, Standlake, Westwell, Witney, and Yelford, with parts of Langford and Shilton. The hundred extends over an area of 42,000 acres.
